Why I Chose the Original Hardy Boys
The Hardy Boys were among the first books I truly loved as a young reader.
I began reading them when I was about ten years old, and I quickly became fascinated by the adventures of Frank and Joe Hardy. I read every Hardy Boys book I could find at my local library, as well as the copies available through my school library.
What I remember most fondly are the original Hardy Boys stories. When the books were later rewritten and updated, I found that they no longer had quite the same character or atmosphere that I had enjoyed as a young reader.
For me, the originals were always the best.
That is why I decided to return to those early stories and present them for a new generation of young readers. My aim is not to rewrite the adventures, modernise the language or change the stories. Instead, I want to preserve the character and language of the original texts while giving these classic mysteries a fresh and attractive presentation for today's readers.
The Hardy Boys Collection from Samuel Fenwick Publishing begins with the first nine original adventures — the books that helped introduce generations of young readers to Frank and Joe Hardy.
